Do you ever stop to think of the
work done by the Humane Society of the United States, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the many, many
other rescues that are out there and the people that are so dedicated to saving every abused animal they possibly can ?
It takes millions of dollars to keep these
shelters going. These shelters depend on grants and the generous donations of their benefactors, and any donation that can
be made by people , like ourselves. We may not be able to afford a big amount, but any donation is gratefully used to keep
up the good work that is being done and to educate people that may not be aware of how important these societies are
to the thousands of animals out there that aren't someone's pet.
There is a shelter in your town or county and that is where you should go to donate. A bag
of food, blankets and just a dollar or two would be very appreciated, whatever you can afford. Go to your local shelter and
ask what they need. AND, while you are there, visit the animals that are there.... talk to them, pet them, take them for a
walk. They are lonely and scared and you can make them feel better.
Got a few hours a week to donate your time ??? If you cannot afford to buy a puppy from a reputable breeder, you can
give some time and enjoy the shelter dogs. You may find your new best friend there and be able to adopt him or her.... you
could save a life. There are purebred dogs in every shelter and they all need someone. There are adorable mixes and sweet older
dogs that will give you unconditional love for the rest of their lives. They weren't asked to be born and they don't
deserve to die. Not all will be adopted, but we can give them some joy while they are there. Don't you think ?
